YLC Session 1: Making Decisions

The 9th of December meeting, the Youth Leadership Council for The Banyan Foundation initialized their perspectives on which organization had potential qualities that make these organizations stand out as candidates. In addition, members carefully analyzed each aspect of the organizations qualities that would benefit individuals that would be benefiting from these organizations by means of Mental Health and the approach that will be established.

The 12 organizations included were: Project Return Peer Support Net, Beyond Bullies, Stomp Out Bullying, Inner City Arts, P.S. Arts, Heart of LA, Win LA Org, David Lynch Foundation, Violence Intervention Program, Teen Line, Free Arts, and Peer Health Exchange.

However, by assessing several factors such as Direct Delivery, Impact vs. Activity, Location, Programming, and sustainability based on scale of 1-4 Criteria, members flagged four organizations for potential candidate drop.

3: Deficient in one area

2: Deficient in two areas

1: Deficient in three areas

Organizations that were flagged based given that they were deficient in two or more areas included: Violence Intervention Program, Teen Line, Free Arts, and Peer Health Exchange.

However, members will still continue to evaluate these four before making a final decision.
